Raymondskill Falls (Delaware Water Gap)

Raymondskill Falls

This is a snippet from a longer blog post I created, about a weekend trip to the Poconos for Matt's birthday. Included is an Airbnb we rec, wineries, places to eat, and 4 hikes. Here is the original blog post.

1st hike: Raymondskills Falls

2nd hike: Hackers Falls

3rd hike: Bushkill Falls

4th hike: Mt Tammany

Black is research done prior to the trip; purple is what we learned from our trip.

Raymondskill Falls (49 min drive from Airbnb; 46 min drive from parking lot for Mount Tammany; about 23 min from Bushkill falls)

"Raymondskill Falls is a series of three cascading waterfalls, and the viewing platforms allow you to observe the falls from different angles. It is the tallest waterfall in Pennsylvania. If you add the height of each cascade together, the waterfall is only a few feet shorter than Niagara Falls."

Coordinates: 41.290291,-74.840466

Parking:
  • Raymondskill Falls Trail is accessible by shuttle bus only on weekends and holidays from 10 am to 4 pm. The parking area for the free shuttle is at the Milford Knob Trailhead/North Contact Station.
    • We just parked in the upper or lower lot, and walked to the falls; no need for a shuttle, nor did we see one

"While not a hike in itself, the Raymondskill Falls area is worth a visit. It's a short walk (basically a stroll through the woods) from the parking area (.3 miles)  to view three stunning waterfalls, making it a more accessible option for those looking for a leisurely stroll. There are steps though." It can also be a bit slippery when wet, as we went after it rained, and in October, when there were leaves on the ground.

Duration:
  • The hike, from the parking lot, takes about 10-20 min, one-way
  • "While the trail is short, it is fairly steep and uneven. The upper viewing area provides a view of the upper pool and its large cascade. The lower viewing area provides a great photo opportunity of the falls."

Do Raymondskills falls first! It’s super quick! And you can get a gage on how hot/cold it is, so you know what to wear when you hike Hackers right after

Up next: Hackers Falls
